One of the first economy cars to emerge from post World War II Europe, this Citroen was one of the most popular modes of transportation of its frugal era. Its amazing go anywhere, do anything personality was the result of an easy-to-drive semi automatic transmission, rugged construction, all independent suspension, seats that could be removed for picnicking and a luggage boot that could be removed when a family wanted to transport a great deal of luggage. Made of washable fabric, the top could be removed for a drive through the French countryside on a summer afternoon. The model number 2CV meant two nominal horsepower (French rating), and this little car combined exceptional fuel efficiency with a distinctive nose-down stance and durable body. |
